Prom Make Tips

Making prom Faces

It is really important to think of makeup looks as part of an ensemble. When you have selected the perfect dress, all the pieces of hair and make-up will fall into place.
Here are a few pointers on how to embrace the hot trends and the dos and don’ts of prom makeup.

The Trends for Prom:

Five easy trends to help you decide on the look you feel will most suit your personality.

A “crimson look” is a bold statement of strength, a classic look that never goes out of style. Think red lips, very polished skin, and simply defined neutral eyes. Christina Aguilera would be a modern-day example of that look.

The glamorous look” where all focus goes on the eyes…To get the best glamorous eyes, use complementary colors, matte and shimmer eye shadows, lots of mascara, and soft pink lips. (Check out Kim Kardashian’s latest look).

Sexy diva” is defined by the high gloss lips, skin lightly sun-kissed, and matte eye shadows, think Beyonce and JLo. The “most beautiful version of yourself” is a simple but effective use of mascara, gloss and shimmer powder, or tinted moisturizer, think Kate Moss.

The “sultry look” is the classic smokey eyes (kohl liner, silver, and black eye shadows) with neutral lips, no one better than Sarah Jessica Parker.

A few Dos and Don’ts of Makeup that will save you on the day of Prom:

  • Do have powder to blot your skin right before your prom photos and throughout the night and the lipstick or gloss with you to touch up.
  • Do focus on one part of your face, eyes, or lips.
  • Do wear false magnetic eyelashes, it looks just grand in prom photos.
  • Do make sure the cover-up or foundation you are using is camera perfect.
  • Do always bring a picture of the look you want if you decide to have a professional do your makeup for you!
  • Do have these products prom cosmetics on hand.
  • Do buy your prom make-up before your big day and test it before the big day to make sure you are not allergic to any of it.
  • Do have prom fingernail polish that matches your prom dress. FYI Prom Magazine dresses have matching nail polish colors! Check them out here!
  • Do have a prom manicure kit before the big day.
  • Don’t overload your skin with too much foundation….less is more.
  • Don’t forget your toes!
